Visit to the Bernard Leach Pottery and kiln site St Ives Cornwall
A memorable visit to Cornwall It was a most informative and inspiring pilgrimage for Anton with many realizations, surprises and affirmations. The visit was a fulfillment of a lifetime ambition to visit one of the sources and beginning impulses of this particular style of craft in South Africa.
Easter 2011 Glaze firing
Our Easter firing. Vale fired some large hand built vessels and Anton fired a collection of memorial pots dedicated to Craftsman Tony Canter. They were commissioned by the family. I used a copper rivet altered by Tony in the decoration of the pots. The rivet was a trade mark in Tony's fine woodwork. I also used his wooden puzzle piece to create the medallions on the pots. The facets were cut using a woodworker's draw knife. These pots are a limited edition collection made available to the family first and later to our collectors.
Wood Firing March 2011
Our first woodburn firing for 2011. Mostly small works were fired and a lot of odd pots left over from previous firings. There were some pleasant surprises. Vale and Anton shared the stoking with Mzwekaya in a support role collecting waste wood for the firing.
